Industry news KINGSTON LINKS GC COULD TURN INTO SUSTAINABLE HOME ESTATE Rowville’s Kingston Links Golf Course could be developed into a “sustainable” housing estate, with developer The Pask Group revealing plans for up to 800 houses, plus parks and cafes. The plans for the 67ha flood-prone site were revealed earlier this month by the Leader and comes shortly after news that Waverley Golf Club in Bergins Rd wants to develop its course into a dwelling estate. Pask Group marketing manager Marcus Hancock said they wanted to turn the golf course into “a nice sustainable family environment”. “There will be parks and cafes; it will make a nice place for people to live,” Mr Hancock said. An application to rezone the site from special use to general residential is being reviewed by Knox Council. According to the council’s Rowville Plan, the 18-hole public golf course “has been for sale in recent years with various proposals for redevelopment, primarily for residential use”. According to the report, the site falls “largely within the 100-year flood plain of the Corhanwarrabul Creek and includes a Land Subject to Inundation Overlay”. But Mr Hancock said they were working with Melbourne Water and other experts to address any flooding issues. A Melbourne Water spokeswoman, who declined to be named, said the authority had been given engineering reports showing the land “could be reshaped to create an area free from flooding while maintaining a wide corridor along Corhanwarrabul Creek and ensuring flood levels are not increased”. 10 The Golf Marketing Professionals www.golfindustrycentral.com.au
