"I used to work in the IT sector for many years but decided to stay become a stay at home mom with my kids. So my writing time is few and sometimes far between just depending on what kind of day we are having. Lately, now that my youngest is in school, I am alloted a few undisturbed hours of pure writing hours that are priceless to my art. I work very hard in those few hours and connot fathom giving away all that precious time for nothing. Not to mention the cost of the cover and the hours of working with my editor to polish up the rough edges of my creations. There is just too much invested in each project to be free. It would be like building a restaurant that took time to build, having to pay for materials and manhours to get it done. Hire chefs and staff to make it perfect then be expect to let people come eat there for nothing because they didn't think they should have to pay."

"We are writers. It is what we do. Our lives are incomplete when we aren't writing. It is frustrating, aggravating, and mesmerizing as we discover where our stories take us. Keeping them only in our heads is painful and cluttered. Releasing them into the world is liberating. And so we write, and hope, and dream of 'someday'. We cannot lose hope, but most importantly, we cannot beat ourselves up over deadlines. For every page we write now, is one page closer to the end of another story."

"I write poetry. For me it comes naturally, so time is not an issue. However, I too have the same concerns as everyone else when it comes to publishing. I have paid for editing, formatting, covers, illustrations, swag and even some marketing. With each book published, I just end up further in the hole. Luckily my real job keeps me in coffee and daylight! As a reader, I will not accept a free book. I feel authors deserve to be paid for their art."

"It takes me about a year to produce a book. Until I earn enough from book sales such that I won't need a "day job" to pay the bills, I have to squeeze fiction writing into my so-called spare time. My stories are also diligently researched. It's worth the effort because my readers often remark how much they appreciate the authenticity, but it also does take time."
