Hit the slopes and enjoy a thrilling
day of snow and speed! There
are many options to choose
from in the mountains of B.C. and
Alberta. Enjoy Canada’s highest
base elevation in Jasper National
Park (skimarmot.com) or head
to Kamloops for diverse terrain
and a complimentary ski tour
(sunpeaksresort.com). Looking
for more of a challenge? Forget
the chairlifts and instead enlist
the help of a helicopter! Ski down
otherwise inaccessible runs in
Terrace (neheliskiing.com), Sinclair
Mills (bearpawheliskiing), or Blue
River (wiegele.com) in northern B.C.
Several cities also offer local
ski hills, so you don’t have to travel
too far to get your fix. In Edmonton,
try a run in the river valley
(snowvalley.ca), near the downtown
area (edmontonskiclub.ca), or south
of the city (rabbithill.com). Or try
the snow tubing park and fly down
the ski hill in one of the groomed
chutes (sunridgeskiarea.com).
Saskatchewan skiers and tubers
can head to Table Mountain
(tablemountainregionalpark.com)
west of Battleford for its 40-acre
terrain. If you’re in Manitoba,
head north of Russell for their
ski hill and snow tubing park
(asessippi.com), head north of
Minnedosa (skivalley.ca), or ski/
snowboard Manitoba’s top terrain
park and mogul run in Winnipeg
(springhillwinterpark.com).

HORSEBACK RIDING
You’re in Western Canada now, partner, so what better way to
embrace it than on horseback? Wander the scenic foothills of
Hinton (entranceranch.com), enjoy the breathtaking views of
Jasper National Park (jasperstables.com), or try your hand at
bareback riding in Kamloops (campbellhillsguestranch.com) if
you’re a more experienced rider.
Those looking for a more authentic cowboy experience
can head to a working ranch, where you can learn about,
and work with, horses and cattle. Some ranches, like the
Saskatchewan River Valley Working Ranch (hiddentrails.com),
offer round-trip transportation from major cities
like Saskatoon. Both ranch and riding
holidays are available at Parkland
Ranch (parkland-ranch.com)
near Russell, Man.
