Snack Attack !
It ’ s inevitable that your stomach will start grumbling when there is no place to stop in sight . Prevent yourself from reaching the hangry zone by keeping some of these non-perishable , healthy snacks on hand !
• Nuts & Seeds : These are great sources of protein and it only takes a handful to curb your hunger .
• Dried Fruit : Raisins , apricots , cranberries , and banana chips will satisfy a sweet craving .
• Granola Bars : Prevent yourself from binging on chocolate bars at your next stop by keeping some easy-to-grab granola bars handy .
• Muffins : Pre-bake ( or buy ) some muffins that you can store in Ziploc bags to keep fresh .

h Know where you are and where you ’ re going ! Handy tools include a guidebook ( like this one !), a map , written directions , road trip apps , and a GPS . |
h Watch out for hazards , rest stops , gas stations ( and gas prices ), photo radar , fun detours , and roadside attractions .
h Keep the driver distractionfree . This includes assuming all duties related to phone calls , texting , apps , and social media .

h Whether you ’ re listening to a CD , an iPod , or the radio , keep the entertainment flowing .
h Hand over snacks and beverages as required . Keep servings small , remove lids from bottles , and put it all within easy reach .
h Adjust car knobs ( such as music volume and temperature controls ) as required to ensure the driver ’ s comfort and safety .

h Become the cheerleader when necessary . Examples : “ Woo , keep going !” and “ Flat tires are no big deal !”
h Watch for signs of exhaustion . Either offer to assume the driving duty or find a good place to rest and recharge .
h No napping unless officially relieved of duty ! Ensure all the driver ’ s needs are met before nodding off .
