MANEKA GANDHI
Maneka Gandhi is a long-serving Indian politician and former journalist . She is well known for her deep commitment to the defense of animals and founded the Indian Ministry of Animal Welfare . In her work as a politician she has helped put in place many regulations to support the protection of animals in the wild and in research laboratories . Through tireless effort she has managed to raise awareness about animal rights and treatment in India , by educating the public that animal cruelty has a significant and irreversible impact on human health , economy and environment . She has written numerous books on animal rights and the law . She has a poignant way writing that helps us understand how important it is that we conserve and protect wildlife and forests : “ Without forests , there would be no rain , no rivers and eventually no life ."
