This past spring, a municipal water pipeline was installed along the main highway passing the village, and Hard Workers immediately began to plan for expansion. They have extended the water main down into the rural countryside to their existing water tank, thereby alleviating the extraordinary expense of paying for water delivery by truck during the dry season. Further they are in the process of extending the water pipeline to three additional sites.
This fall, Hard Workers completed construction on the first of their three new sites, and have been selling water from that location, as well as the
original site. They are now in the process of completing their final two sites. Additionally, Hard Workers have conducted a new issue study, investigating the specific water-related issues in the new communities they will be serving, and working with community
leaders to determine how to best serve local need.
This year, a Rwandan official paid a visit to one of the construction sites, bringing news that the venture is going to be honored throughout Rwanda as a model for grassroots water projects. Hard Workers is eager to host and train other groups from around the country.
