or cheap telephone calls back then! We
agreed we would do something special,
just the two of us, every 10th year from
the year we first met. In 1983, we met in
Oxford, in 1993 in Bruges and in 2003 in
London.
For our 50th ‘anniversary’ this year, we
had a very special celebration in England.
What makes a friendship between two
people who met purely by chance and
grew up in different countries so special it
can survive 50 years?
