Save and Exit On the far right the ‘Save and exit’ section gives you options for how you want to exit BIOS with options to load or save a BIOS profile, enter the Q-Flash utility (used for updating your BIOS) and options to load factory-set default settings. S etting the Boot Priority Initially, in order to install the operating system on to the PC, we need to boot from either an installation disk (CD/DVD) or a bootable USB stick (see ‘Builder’s Tip 4 above) containing the OS – in this case Windows 8. To do this we need to set the boot priority, ensuring the target drive with the OS is first priority. From the ‘Home’ screen in BIOS you find a simple and easy to use graphic at the bottom right of the screen entitled ‘Boot Sequence’. This area shows the disks installed on your system, and the priority in which your system will boot. Note: the drives can be simply dragged and dropped into position. The drive furthest to the left will be the first drive the system will attempt to boot from. So, for example, if you are installing from a CD/or DVD ROM, ensure that drive is first. Likewise if you are installing from a bootable USB drive, that drive should be first. You can now press F10 on your keyboard to ‘Save BIOS Changes’ and re-boot. Your new PC will boot from the target drive and automatically begin the operating system installation. How to Build Your Own PC 24
