A $ 7 million donation to the Clayton Century Foundation will create a welcoming addition to Shaw Park . Ground was recently broken for Chapman Plaza at the corner of Brentwood and Forsyth boulevards . The gift from the Bob Chapman family and Barry-Wehmiller , where Chapman is chairman and CEO , will build the plaza entry to the park and also fund its maintenance for 20 years . Completion is expected by early September , just in time for the Saint Louis Art Fair .
An exhibition documenting the rich history of Lambert-St . Louis International Airport - from Charles Lindbergh and the birth of American Airlines to the 9 / 11 tragedy - is currently on display . Travelers and aviation enthusiasts can view more than 50 large-scale reproductions of historical photographs from the new book , “ The Aerial Crossroads of America : St . Louis ’ s Lambert Airport ,” in the Lambert Gallery in Terminal 1 near the baggage claim . The exhibit runs through November .
2017 Visionary Award honorees
This spring , six local women will be recognized as “ visionaries ” for their efforts in advancing the arts in St . Louis . The 2017 St . Louis Visionary Awards honorees are Shirley LeFlore ( Outstanding Working Artist ), Kat Reynolds ( Outstanding Emerging Artist ), Regina Martinez ( Community Impact Artist ), Nancy Bell ( Outstanding Arts Professional ), Vivian Watt ( Outstanding Teaching Artist ), and Sally S . Levy ( Major Contributor to the Arts ). The Visionary Awards celebrates the contributions and achievements of women who work in or support the arts throughout the community . This year ’ s recipients will be honored during a special ceremony at The Sun Theater in Grand Center on Mon ., April 24 .
George Benson , a 10-time Grammy Award winner , has been announced as the headliner for The Sheldon ’ s 2017 gala . With a career spanning more than 50 years , Benson is a jazz and pop legend and a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master . Proceeds from the Fri ., May 12 concert will benefit performances , gallery exhibitions and educational program of the Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries . Gala tickets , which include a pre-concert reception , dinner and preferred concert seating , are now available through The Sheldon at ( 314 ) 533-9900 . Concert only tickets go on sale Fri ., April 7 .

According to an annual list of America ’ s best party hosts and hostesses , the latest honors for St . Louis ’ most fabulous party hosts go to international public affairs consultant and Civic Service Inc . founder Roy Pfautch and Signa and Robert Hermann , the chairman and CEO of Hermann Companies Inc . “ The Salonniere ” tells “ Gazelle ” that Pfautch and the Hermanns received “ numerous nominations from the more than 1,000 in-the-know influencers we spent six-plus months querying .” These include confidential input from St . Louis society reporters , as well as business , civic and community leaders . The Salonniere 100 list is released annually by “ The Salonniere ,” an awardwinning site devoted to the art of entertaining .
