What I did know was that I did not want to make any mistakes . So I took the year off and did a lot of thinking ; it really made me miss the game . So when I came back to training camp this year , it was the hungriest I have ever been to play the game since I got drafted
“ My shoulder had been bugging me for over a year in Texas ,” he said . “ I kept getting it looked at , but the doctors down there kept telling me that there was nothing wrong with it . So when I came back here for the summer , Pete MacDonald checked it out and said it was pretty messed up . He did an operation on it and gave me a six-month recovery .” At this point , Glennie was without a contract , without a team , and without a fully functioning shoulder . So he did what any other former eighth-overall NHL draft pick would have done . He took a year off to reassess . “ If I pushed it I knew that I could have come back around February ,” Glennie said . “ But at that point , I wasn ’ t really where I wanted to be , and I just didn ’ t really know what I wanted to do .
