Meeting the Moose

For the second year in a row , the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club partnered with the True North Youth Foundation to host meet and greets between kids participating in the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy and their favourite Moose players . For a young player like Nelson Nogier , nothing keeps you grounded like reminding yourself why you became a pro hockey player in the first place .

When you ’ re a kid in Winnipeg , there is nothing more fun than meeting your favorite pro hockey star . And for the second year in a row , the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club has partnered with the True North Youth Foundation to host meet and greets between kids participating in the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy and their favourite Moose players . The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy ( WJHA ) is a play-based program designed to increase school attendance as well as high school graduation rates in socially and economically challenged schools in Winnipeg . The WJHA runs during the school year and within local arenas and schools in Winnipeg . The WJHA enables children who have few recreational options to participate in a hockey skills program over a 25-week period that incorporates community volunteers and university students as instructors and positive role models . Participation barriers are removed by providing programming staff , equipment , transportation , ice rentals , nutrition , and qualified on ice instruction to all academy participants . To date , more than 300 kids who participate in the WJHA have had the opportunity to meet with Manitoba Moose players post game . The meet and greets are designed to not only give the kids
