BAILEY BRAM WITH THE PUCK CHECKED BY GRADE 10 BLAZER OLIVIA CVAR

It ’ s a great source of pride for all of us to see these players come back and continue to play the game at such a high level

the world and it ’ s also great promotion for our current program . It ’ s a highlight of our season .” The game began in 2007 and for Regan Boulton and Sarah Zacharias , the two women tasked with getting the alumni out in full force , it ’ s a labour of love . However , to be fair , it ’ s also a bit of labour . It ’ s not easy bringing all of these former Balmoral Hall stars back to Winnipeg from all over North America . “ It ’ s pretty much Sarah and I along with the alumnae relations coordinator and the job is to get as many alumni back as possible ,” said Boulton , a former Blazer who is now the Admissions Officer / Hockey Recruiter at BH . “ It ’ s hard to get them together when they ’ re all over the place . We had typically played the game around the 16th of December , but this year , we decided to move it back to Dec . 22 , in an effort to get more players involved who get a break during the Holiday season . “ But it ’ s still tough . Some of the girls , especially the ones still playing at university , get limited days off and they have to work in all their family and friends ’ commitments into a very short time . We ’ re very fortunate that so many players returned to play this year .” This year , Boulton and Zacharias , started with a facebook page and constantly updated the roster . In total , 16 players returned and played while four more returned but for very reasons , couldn ’ t play . It was a tremendous turnout that resulted in a tremendous day of hockey . The game is played for The Gariepy Cup , named in honor of
long-time administrative staff member Denise Gariepy . Denise has worked in the school ’ s administration department since 1990 and according to Balmoral Hall spokesperson Jennifer Pawluk , “ Her office is one of the most-visited by students and alumnae alike , especially those who play or have played hockey for the Blazers . At Balmoral Hall , she is their biggest fan .” “ She is someone who is not directly associated with the team , but she was that someone in the school who we could always go to and know she always cared about us win or lose ,” former player Kristin Cockerill told Pawluk . “ If we ever needed anything , she would be there .”
