For the past 9 years , the Balmoral Hall Blazers have been calling back their alumni to get together during the Holiday break and play a little hockey . The Gariepy Cup , an annual celebration of the game at Balmoral Hall , has become an example of what makes a Balmoral Hall Blazers prep hockey player – once a Blazer , always a Blazer .

Balmoral Hall Blazers head coach Gerry Wilson admits that there is one game every year that is almost impossible for him and his assistant coach to prepare for . Scouting the opposition is tough , preparation for what they ’ ll offer up is even tougher . When Balmoral Hall gets together to play the annual Gariepy Cup Game at MTS Iceplex , the head coach of the current team is at a bit of a disadvantage . “ Every year we have this big game with our alumni and we do our very best to stay with them ,” said Wilson with a wide smile . “ We weren ’ t doing too badly this year , but in the end , they just skated away from us . “ It ’ s a great source of pride for all of us to see these players come back and continue to play the game at such a high level . Having all these university and national team players come back every Holiday season to play says a lot about the high quality people and athletes this program sends out into
