Fittingly, the cup is named after the founder of Berlin
GAA who helped set up the club in 2014 and helped organise the first tournament here last year. Chris sadly
passed away from a short battle with cancer soon after the
tournament and so maybe there was an extra player on
the field last week helping Berlin to win the biggest cup in
European Hurling.
This time photographer Peter Stimpel was back snapping
photos but he also showed his support for this new sport
in the city when bringing with him the Dresden Monarchs
American Football fan club to watch the games.
Gaelic Sports are new to the city as Dresden Hurling got
going with initial practice and training sessions in 2012,
before last May saw the very first game of hurling take
place when a visiting team from Ireland played the new

way from Israel to play in the tournament.
The Dresden Hurling club now take a break for the winter but plans are already afoot to hold similar tournaments
next spring and summer.
