Pardon Process Improved

Following meetings over several months with victim advocates, prosecutors and judges, the Parole Board in FY15 made improvements to the pardon application process. A new notification process is now in place allowing for victims and prosecutors to be notified when a former offender is seeking a pardon. During the 2015 legislative session, House Bill 71 was adopted making many of the Board's changes law and further improving the agency's pardon procedures. (more on page 19)

Parole Wins Excalibur Award

The Technology Association of Georgia awarded the Parole Board the 2014 Excalibur Award. The award recognizes Georgia companies and organizations that demonstrate the best use of technology. The Board was recognized for its advanced voice recognition supervision technology utilized to track an offender's compliance while under parole supervision in the community. Governor Deal also recognized the Board with a commendation. (more on page 25)

Parole Welcomes Southern States

In July 2014 the Southern States Correctional Association held its annual conference in Savannah. The Parole Board served on the Georgia host committee.

New Mission Statement Guides Agency

As a result of parole supervision moving to the Department of Community Supervision, the Parole Board adopted a new mission statement. Parole's mission statement confirms the agency's continued commitment to public safety.
