The portfolio seeks to achieve a stable income and return by investing in a diversified selection of hard currency-denominated , short duration sovereign and corporate debt issued in emerging market countries .
Why the fund is different The fund aims to provide a competitive yield with limited volatility by investing in a short duration portfolio of emerging markets sovereign and corporate debt . The fund employs a simple , straightforward investment strategy - long only , no derivatives and pure hard currency with a target duration of two years . On average , the portfolio will be rated as investment-grade . We believe the strategy is an attractive way to take advantage of EM yield pick-up while offering some protection from rising US interest rates .

The fund seeks regular income and capital growth by investing in a diversified portfolio of US dollar-denominated bonds issued by sovereign and quasisovereign entities of over 50 emerging countries worldwide .
Why the fund is different The fund has outperformed its benchmark in nine out of the past 10 calendar years . It aims to outperform JPM EMBI Global Diversified Index with a predictable risk return profile , using both top-down assessment of global risk and bottom-up country analysis . Simon Lue-Fong , head of emerging debt , leads a dedicated team of eight investment managers with an average of over 19 years experience in managing this $ 6bn fund .
