PREPARATORY SCHOOL

More than

$ 6000 raised through

Crazy HairDay

It ’ s one of the biggest days on the Preparatory School calendar , when students and staff have the opportunity to spray , style , tease , colour , cut and decorate their hair in the wildest way possible , to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation . This year the School managed to raise over $ 6000 , making the total raised over the past ten years an amazing $ 85,000 !

Our great string ensemble

On Friday April 18 March the String Ensemble 2 played at the Preparatory School assembly . This group is made up students in Year 3 to 6 who have been learning a string instrument for more than one year . We were proud to present two short pieces to our audience : Scooter Ride and Two ’ s Company , both composed by the Australian composer Stephen Chin . They form part of a suite called A Dozen Dazzlers .
am immensely proud of the hard work they have put in . As many students have come from playing in unison , these pieces have taught students how to play in a ‘ section ’ and therefore demand that they learn to count their own part , play with dynamics and do all the correct bowings . This is no small achievement ! I know that we are all looking forward to more performance opportunities later in the year .
The group rehearses every Tuesday morning in the Music Room from 7.15am to 8.00am . We have been working on these pieces since the beginning of the year which in reality is only seven rehearsals . For many students the pieces were a considerable challenge and I
Belinda Yeun ( 3F ) finished our performance with a beautiful solo recital of the Minuet 1 by J . S . Bach .
