“ Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read , write and count . Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child .”

and numeracy sessions that provide opportunities for important skills to be explicitly taught and monitored . We are very aware of the importance of ensuring children understand the process of learning , rather than only valuing the product , and therefore place importance on extending children ’ s thinking and encouraging them to seek and accept new challenges in a steady and controlled environment .
Our Fundamental Movement Skills program provides every child with daily opportunities to build core body strength and control in a safe and challenging way with their friends . Specific skills are taught , refined , monitored and incorporated into games and activities .
We assist our early learners with opportunities to listen , observe and contribute through our Friendly Schools program , to build social competence and develop a toolkit for positive interactions and resilience . This is a part of the wider school focus on social and emotional wellbeing .
The early learning environment is important as it supports all aspects of children ’ s learning . We provide a developmentally appropriate and flexible environment that enables an investigative approach to problem solving and inquiring in a fun and multisensory way . Early learning staff are experienced observers of children at work . We are able to identify when students require differentiated instruction so each child ’ s learning needs are met . We ensure that children do not just appear to understand by surface learning , rather that they have developed a deep and meaningful understanding and are able to demonstrate their learning confidently through multistep activities and repeated opportunities . Our early learners are the beneficiaries of a rich curriculum – allowing them to develop at their own pace , in a developmentally appropriate manner and in a way that is meaningful to them .
We welcome you to visit the Early Learning Centre to experience the excitement and joy of learning that is taking place . Take time to look , to listen and to wonder . It is definitely a beautiful place to be and will put a smile on your face .
