Big expectations for
This year ’ s Career Expo was bigger than ever , and it needed to be with an expected move from the Dining Hall to the larger Oliverson Gymnasium . The students of the School were fortunate to be joined by 24 Tertiary institutions and 47 career mentors , mostly from the Old Guildfordian community . The participation from career mentors was fantastic and they provided the students with valuable and honest feedback about the realities of their own career choices . A variety of occupations were represented by career mentors and there were even Old Guildfordians present that are currently studying , to talk to the boys about the realities of university life . The career mentors were kept very busy answering a variety of questions about anything that was of interest to them . The career mentors commented about the impressive caliber of the students and the quality of questions being asked . If a student had a conversation with a career mentor that sparked an interest in a particular career path , a variety of universities , apprenticeships and other tertiary study providers were available to help students explore the pathways available and the application processes .
For the Old Guildfordians , the expo concluded with a tour of the School which was followed by a meal with the boarding students for further discussions .
We offer our deepest gratitude to the Old Guildfordians and community members for donating their valuable time and expertise to the Careers Expo . Our students have been given the best possible opportunity to make informed career choices as they take those first steps into adulthood .
