COMMUNITY

2016 Art Exhibition – something for everyone

Our annual Art Exhibition is always a highlight of the year and an opportunity for our students and a wide variety of local artists to showcase their works . Along with our very successful High Tea , this year we also offered two Indigenous art workshops for students .
The 16th Annual Art Exhibition was officially opened on Friday 7 October by Ms Thelma John , Curator of the Central TAFE Art Gallery . This year we were entertained by the inimitable duo of Mr Kieran Hurley and Mr Quentin Edmonds , while the catering team served an endless and delicious selection of canapés . The art , as always , was varied and this year ’ s feature artists were Lindsay Harris , Ian Williams and Jarrad Martyn ( He 05-09 ).
This year the P & F Society sponsored two Indigenous art workshops on the Saturday morning of the Exhibition , facilitated by Urban Indigenous . The workshops were well attended , with over 30 students taking the opportunity to learn more about Indigenous art while their parents wandered through the Art Exhibition .
The Community High Tea on the Sunday afternoon was also a great success ,
although the wet and cold weather leading up to the event saw our numbers drop a little this year . The weather held up on the day , with only a few light showers early in the morning keeping us all on our toes ! But the sun came out and our guests enjoyed the fashion parade by Trends Boutique , the amazing food , again provided by the School ’ s catering team , and the beautiful voice of local singer / songwriter Trent-Jean .
Events like these are not possible without the support of many people and the School would like to thank all the volunteers who gave up their time to work tirelessly over a period of several weeks to make these events a success . We extend our appreciation to the following sponsors for their generosity : Angel Flowers , Trends Boutique , Shelley Cope Hair , Sonja and Alexa Pavlovic and all of our beautiful models . A special thank you to the P & F representative for the Arts , Kirsty Bates , Maria Lintern , members of the FOSS Committee , Libby Stafford , Gillian MacDonald , Tracey O ’ Neil , Caroline Nisbet , Louise Barnett , Jane Diamond , Mason Shephard ( Year 9 ) Christian Merritt ( Year 9 ), Andre Giambazi ( Year 10 ), Rosemary Waller , the Maintenance and Grounds Department , Steve Dixon and our amazing catering team . A big thank you also to Joshua Lintern for looking after the audio and setup on opening night and over the weekend .
