This year the School celebrated an
amazing effort by the 1st XVIII Football
team to become outright winners of the
Alcock cup, for the first time since 1958.
Co-captain of the team, Marshall Jones
(12He), had a special family connection to
the victory as his grandfather was a member
of the Guildford Grammar School football
community the last time the School won the
Alcock cup.
Robin Gentle (Ha 58-58) was a part of
the Alcock Cup winning team in 1958, the
same year he joined the school as a Harper
House Year 11 boarder. He was a part of
the inaugural intake of students to form the
new Harper House which, at the time, was
specifically formed for boarding students.
Robin was a member of the 2nd XVIII
