SENIOR SCHOOL What means to me Day Boys Gabriel: 3G means to be the best you can be whether it’s on the sports field, in the classroom or on the street it doesn’t matter. 3G is about representing Guildford. 3G is about showing the community how Guildford Grammar School students act even when they’re not at school. To me this means working as hard as I can when doing sports, even when I know I’m no good at that sport. It’s about picking up that assignment that you really don’t Gabriel Boyd (8He) want to do and completing it, and it’s about helping that old lady with her groceries even if you have to give up some of your time. This is what 3G is about. Liam Guthrie (8St) Liam: To be 3G you’ve got to be Hard, Professional and United. To be these three things you’ve got to care and be nice to others, including your friends, mates, fellow class mates, staff and teachers. You’ve got to also be focused on your school work, which means handing in assessments and homework on time. When you are playing sport it is the same, you don’t talk back to the umpire or swear at the opposing side, instead you always give your best to every hit, throw, pass, and contest. Tim: Being 3G means following and aspiring to the School values. It means always doing the right thing to the best of your ability, whatever the circumstances. 3G is being Hard, Professional and United, all at the same time. To be 3G is to try your hardest, whilst being professional and remaining united, be it in academics, sport or break-times. To me 3G means not slacking off, in any respect, during class, sport, break-times or with homework. Tim McLean (8Be) To me 3G means doing good, positive things, ruling out anything that may have a negative effect, even when being pressured by others or when you’re feeling tired. 3G means doing the right thing wherever, whenever, with whomever. 16 Tyler: To be 3G means working together as a team, giving it our all and being skilled at what we do. United, Hard, Professional now relates to every facet of life within our school. From our classrooms to the sporting field and outward to the wider community, entrenching ourselves in 3G gives us a moral base with which to live our life. For me Guildford Grammar School’s 3G program and our Tyler Campbell (9Be) Core Values go hand in hand. Don’t just learn these words, study and live them, for each and every one of us is part of this team. Our responsibility is to continue on the tradition of humility and compassion. Help each other when we stumble, provide support to one another and understand your team; gain strength from each of life’s lessons. Regardless of the obstacle, united we can and will Go Forward and follow in the footsteps of Guildford’s past generations to achieve excellence in all our endeavours. What it means to be 3G in Boarding The boarders have developed their own 3G model – Proud to be a boarder – along with a new Boarding Purpose and set of agreed behaviours. The Boarding Purpose is “To provide a home away from home, giving boys the opportunity of a first class education while building strong relationships and learning lifelong values.” We asked some of our junior boarders to tell us what 3G boarding means to them. Mason: Being 3G in boarding at Guildford Grammar School is to be a “good bloke”. To be a good bloke means that you’re respectful, you show unity with your fellow boarders (who are basically your older and younger brothers) and to show enjoyment whilst doing this. These are the three pillars that make us true 3G boarders. There are plenty of boys who display the 3G motto and attitudes and this is a positive step for the Mason Sullivan (9Fr) boarding community. I am proud to be living with these boys, my brothers, as they are improving the image of boarding throughout the School and wider community, which is a bonus for everyone. Being a 3G boarder is something that boosts the whole community inside and outside of the school grounds and I feel that living by these s
