OLD GUILDFORDIANS Looking more closely at George’s achievements at Guildford Grammar School, it is true to say that he did prove himself to be outstanding academically. He was awarded a litany of academic awards and prizes including the Form Prize in 1961, the Mathematics and Science Prize in 1961, the Mathematics Clothworkers’ Company Prize in 1962, the Science Prize in 1962, the Archbishop’s Essay Prize in 1963, the Religious Knowledge Prize in 1963 and the Geography Prize in 1964.
