COMMUNITY
Boarders Parents’ Association
Another year has finished for the Boarders
Parents’ Association with the holding of our
recent AGM. We have farewelled some
Committee members and have welcomed
some new parents to the committee,
which will bring fresh perspective and
ideas. Our objective remains to encourage
communication between the School, staff
and families and provide a social avenue for
all boarders’ parents.
Our Sundowner and Dinner for boarding
parents and boys, held at the start of
the year, was a huge success. It’s a great
opportunity for current parents to catch up
and particularly for new parents to meet up
and get their bearings.
With the Prefects Ball held on the first
closed weekend of term, boarders’ parents
are often in limbo waiting to pick their
charges up. Our annual dinner for parents,
held in the same venue, was a great
night for Year 11 and 12 parents who
shared a meal and whiled away the hours
comfortably.
At our General Meeting held in April, the
topic of conversation was the move to a
three week mid-year break in 2015 and the
boys going back to school a week earlier
in January 2015. With open minds and
positive reasoning we look forward to the
new term times.
During term 3 our annual BPA Chapel
Service and Brunch was held and ably
hosted by Father Philip. After a lovely service
a fantastic brunch was enjoyed by all.
Before the end of the year we have two
further events on our calendar. Boarders’
Orientation is held in November and is
always an exciting time for new students.
The Boarders Parents’ end of year BBQ
Dinner is held on the last day of school,
before Prizegiving Night.
The addition of the Boarding Gazette on a
fortnightly basis has been very well received
by parents and we look forward to receiving
every issue. Thanks must go to Jodie De
Freitas for pulling all the corners together
and always being available for help and
support.
Thank you to the 2014 BPA committee for
your support and effort. We look forward
to catching up with as many parents as
possible at our social functions.
