The Room by Alice Leora Briggs is a suite of twelve chine collé woodcuts printed in editions of twenty-four. Each of the twelve images in this suite corresponds to a line in Mark Strand’s poem of the same title. The first fourteen impressions are reserved as deluxe suites, with additional letter press sheets: a title page, a poem broadside and a colophon signed by both Alice Leora Briggs and Mark Strand, 1990 U.S. Poet Laureate, MacArthur Fellow and recipient of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Each deluxe suite is interleaved with kitakata, held within a chemise of wheat and black duplexed 260 gsm Hahnemühle Bugra paper and housed in a handmade clamshell box. Numbers 15 though 24 of each edition are available as individual impressions.
