The cultural scene shifts focus in September as weekly and monthly entertainment series ’ begin and special arts events fill the cultural calendar . The popular monthly Indie Films Fernie series brings the best independent films to Fernie for a single night screening at the Vogue Theatre from September through to April , while Canadian and international talents take to the stage for the concert series at the Arts Station . Also at the Arts Station , look for the ‘ What the Dickens ’ Christmas Festival running throughout the month of December plus monthly Gallery opening receptions .
Film Festivals are a highlight of Fernie ’ s winter , with the Reel Canadian Film Festival showcasing the best of Canada ’ s film-making talent in January , and the Fernie Mountain Film Festival celebrating mountain culture in February . The Booked ! Fernie Writers ’ Series brings four literary heavyweights to the Fernie Heritage Library during the cooler months .
