that is commonly used today and is a result of the faulty looped-hose system. The boom and receptacle also known as the flying boom is another method used for refueling aircraft mid-flight. The Air Force uses the flying boom more often and the Navy uses the probe and drogue. So in essence the KC-46A will be able to accomplish Air Force related missions as well as Navy missions.

An initiative, started in the 1980’s, that provides medical personnel and civil engineers deployment simulation situations and experiences called New Horizons starts back up again this year. Air Force and Army forces join together to support the program. They go to a specific country to provide medical interventions and while providing competent medical care to the people there, the soldiers and airmen learn how to interact in other areas- in preparation for deployment. This year New Horizons will be held in Belize. Medical professionals will go out not only into the cities, but also into jungle and rural areas to provide care in those places as well. These situations help prepare medical personnel to operate in areas where there are limited supplies and little to no medical care nearby. These situations also help prepare airmen and soldiers for humanitarian missions in the future, such as when a natural disaster occurs in a third world country.
