2014 ANNUAL REPORT
BUILDING THE FUTURE
A LETTER FROM THE NEW CEO
Since its inception, Father Joe’s Villages has existed in a constant state of
evolution – always reinventing itself in the never-ending pursuit of achieving
more for the people we serve. It’s an incredible honor to answer the calling
to lead this organization as it evolves once again. As I take the reins from
the Interim President and CEO, and current CFO, Diane Stumph, I am both
inspired by its legacy and enthusiastic about its future.
It is my firm belief that doing all that we can to eradicate homelessness is not
just a goal, but a sacred obligation.
How will we commit to this obligation in the years to come?
EMBRACING AND LEADING CHANGE
To effectively address homelessness in our community, we are constantly
reevaluating and improving our programs to best meet the needs of the
men, women and children we serve. While permanent supportive housing
and transitional housing continue to be successful and integral components
of our comprehensive suite of services, we intend to respond to the everchanging needs in our community by integrating more interim shelter,
permanent supportive housing and rapid re-housing programs.
Recognizing that lasting change requires collaboration, we will continue to
work diligently with our partners in the community, including businesses,
neighbors, government officials, and fellow service providers, to further
the regional effort to end homelessness. Only by working together can we
transform the lives of San Diego’s homeless and impoverished in new and
effective ways.
It is in this same spirit of evolution that we proudly introduce our new brand.
WHAT’S IN A NAME?
For many in our community, the name “Father Joe’s Villages,” represents
a long legacy of helping people in need and of fulfilling a higher purpose.
For more than six decades, we’ve awakened the human spirit in our
clients, donors, partners, volunteers and community. In that time, one
thing has remained true—when there has been a call for our services,
we have answered.
That reality will never change.
