District Procedures: Board Policy 6142.1
1. Family Life/Comprehensive Sexual Education shall be
conducted by district trained certificated personnel for students
in 5th grade and Comprehensive Sexual Education with HIV/STD
Prevention Education in 7th grade.
2. Parents will be provided the opportunity to request in writing
that their child not receive family life instruction.
3. Alternative science instruction programs will be provided for
those students whose parents have indicated a desire that their
children be excluded from Family Life Education.
4. The Oak Grove School District requires that FLE teachers must
be trained in state and district guidelines and Ed. Code.

Fifth Grade Program- Students participate in Comprehensive
Sexual Health Education following the Health Framework for
California Public Schools and presented by trained teachers.
Teachers are encouraged to use anonymous question boxes to
create a safe environment for students.
Seventh Grade Program- Students participate in
Comprehensive Sexual Health Education following the Health
Framework for Public Schools and HIV/STD prevention
instruction as mandated by the state of California. Instruction is
presented by trained teachers. Teachers are encouraged to use
anonymous question boxes to create a safe student
environment.
