By Charlaine Martin Consider the crowns on earth versus the heavenly crowns of the Bible. The crown jewels of Great Britain are very expensive, worth an estimated $20-50 million dollars- with the Star of Africa Scepter valued at $400 million. They have been worn by monarchs since 1066 AD. It was by birth the monarchs deserved the privilege and right to wear such magnificent jewels set in precious metals, although some were obtained illegitimately (Page, 2013). These jewels were successfully stolen by Colonel Blood in 1671, a man who found himself penniless, but recovered soon after the theft (John- Crowns in Heaven: time, energy, and effort you pour into these young hearts.” Is it all worth it in God’s eyes? He sees our hearts in all that we do and He set aside eternal rewards for those who love Him. What does each of these mean? F amily calendars are filled with work, school, and church activities on most nights of the week. Getting the kids out of bed and into the car for church on Sunday morning is an amazing feat in itself for some families. Vacation Bible School and Backyard Bible Clubs, are wonderful outreaches in communities but, can be very draining on the adult workers. One Children’s ministry volunteer said, “People in church expect to see these glowing numbers of conversions, but we don’t see as many as we used to. Even today, royalty wear such exquisite jewels for formal events. But the earthly crowns are a poor imitation of the precious heavenly crowns God has in Heaven for His people. Followers of Jesus will receive crowns as joint heirs with Him. What makes them most precious is they are given to us by the One who paid an exorbitant cost for our salvationHis blood.
