Sherry and Tommy drove deep into the South Side, where
they found the perfect vacant lot and dumped Laurel’s body.
After a quick stop to pick up things at their apartment, they
headed out of town using the cash they’d gotten from Sal.
About half-a-block away two little boys watched their
mother Beulah sleeping in her chair after an exhausting day’s
work. Although they were forbidden to leave the security of
their apartment after dark, the eldest, Randy, convinced his
younger brother Gerard to go anyway.
Beulah had turned on the radio to listen to President
Eisenhower’s speech, but had fallen asleep after only a few
minutes.
