Black & White Night for Sight

Gift of Sight Gala

Eversight Illinois will host the Black and White Night for Sight on June 2 at the Illinois State University Alumni Center . The annual affair is a true celebration of our mission , work and impact . While the event is always one for the books , this year ’ s 50s-themed fundraiser will really have guests Rockin ’ & Rollin .’ In addition to being a swinging good time for those in attendance , the event will honor donor parents Vivian and Larry Lefferts .
Vivian and Larry lost their 22-year-old son , John , unexpectedly in 2004 . Upon his passing , John became a cornea , bone and tissue donor , and touched the lives of 37 people . In the wake of their loss , the Lefferts found great comfort in sharing John ’ s story and raising awareness about the importance of donation .
“ We want to help people recognize what a profound gift donation is to the donor family and loved ones left behind ,” Vivian said . “ It provides hope for the future and the knowledge that a death was not in vain . Life truly does go on .”
Both Vivian and Larry are active advocates for Eversight Illinois and have supported Black and White Night for Sight as sponsors and committee members for many years . We are thrilled to recognize them as the 2016 honorees for their ongoing efforts and generosity .
We invite you to join event co-chairs Karen Magers and Leanna Bordner for this festive affair that will also include live auction prizes , cocktails and cuisine , a mystery wine bottle pull and much more ! Proceeds from the event support the Noah Moore Scholarship for Technical Advancement , and the Gift of Sight Charitable Tissue Program through the Dr . John E . Randolph Memorial Fund .
Say “ Oui !” to a good time for a great cause , and join Eversight Illinois on June 23 for our 18th Annual Gift of Sight Gala at The Peninsula Chicago . This year ’ s Parisian-themed event , Love at First Sight , will raise funds for our important work and recognize Dr . Marian Macsai and Candace Jordan for their ongoing commitment to our mission .
Gala guests will enjoy an evening filled with delicious food , an exclusive silent auction , wonderful entertainment , inspiring stories from transplant recipients , and picture-perfect views from The Peninsula ’ s Grand Ballroom and Shanghai Terrace . Mark your calendars and be sure to join event co-chairs Dr . David Donnersberger and Eileen Howard-Weinberg for this highly anticipated event .
This year ’ s Woman of Vision , Candace Jordan , is an active philanthropist who fully captures Chicago ’ s charitable spirit . She has received numerous accolades , including being named one of Chicago ’ s 100 Women Making a Difference and 100 Women of Influence by TCW Magazine . Candace is highly regarded for her work as a Chicago Tribune social columnist and her blog , Candid Candace .
