This section of the report will take you from country to country for an overview of how
GOW works at national / community level and what activities were organised. This year the
campaign was run by 27 partners in 25 countries.
We can’t thank our partners enough for their dedication and commitment to empower people
year after year, equipping them with the skills they need in today’s society.
ALBANIA
This year Austria was part of European GOW for
the first time. WerdeDigital.at, an initiative started
by Digital Champion of Austria Meryl Akin-Hecke,
offered an open 5-day-webinar series moderated by
Meral Akin-Hecke and David Röthler. The webinar
series was based on the publication of WerdeDigital.
at “Handbook for Working Online” (right now in
German) which can be downloaded for free at
leitfaden.werdedigital.at.

In Albania the national Get Online Week campaign
is called “Java Europiane e Internetit” and it was
organised by Albanian Institute of Science in
partnership with World Vision, Protik and High
Schools.
The idea was to encourage people to make use of
the potential of digital media to support them in
their daily life and work. Among the topics covered
were: a new world of work, publishing online, online
collaboration, online identity, innovation in digital
education and more.
CROATIA
Two main target groups that participated at the
campaign events and activities were:

• Young people, high schools students
• Unemployed people, looking for a job
This year Albanian Institute of Science organised two
meetings and one workshop for the youth to learn
about the opportunities in the IT and ICT sector.
Young people were informed that there are more and
more ICT jobs available, what skills are required, and
how they can improve their skills and get a certificate
of the ICT competences. Participants were also
supported to look for a job on specialised websites
and create a good CV.
The organisations that participated in Get Online
Week 2015 in Croatia are members of the National
Coalition Digital Agenda for Creative Croatia, a
part of the European Grand Coalition for Digital
Jobs Initiative – CTC Rijeka as Leading partner,
Telecentar as the coordinator of GOW in Croatia,
Society for Social Ecology, Forum 50+ and Centre
M.A.R.E. During the campaign an ongoing survey
was initiated and a round table was organised in
collaboration with the City of Zagreb about the
further development of Digital agenda for Creative
Croatia as a part of Zagreb’s candidature for the
European Capital of Culture 2020. In total, 37
workshops and trainings were organised to increase
people’s digital skills, knowledge and employability.
Public awareness regarding employability potentials
in the digital technology sector and the importance
of digital skills was raised through campaign
activities with a total media reach of over 950,000
people.
Youngsters were motivated through various activities
to take up a career or get skilled in ICT.
