COUNTRY HIGHLIGHTS AUSTRIA http://www.getonlineweek.eu/austria/ This section of the report will take you from country to country for an overview of how GOW works at national / community level and what activities were organised. This year the campaign was run by 27 partners in 25 countries. We can’t thank our partners enough for their dedication and commitment to empower people year after year, equipping them with the skills they need in today’s society. ALBANIA This year Austria was part of European GOW for the first time. WerdeDigital.at, an initiative started by Digital Champion of Austria Meryl Akin-Hecke, offered an open 5-day-webinar series moderated by Meral Akin-Hecke and David Röthler. The webinar series was based on the publication of WerdeDigital. at “Handbook for Working Online” (right now in German) which can be downloaded for free at leitfaden.werdedigital.at. http://www.getonlineweek.eu/albania/ In Albania the national Get Online Week campaign is called “Java Europiane e Internetit” and it was organised by Albanian Institute of Science in partnership with World Vision, Protik and High Schools. The idea was to encourage people to make use of the potential of digital media to support them in their daily life and work. Among the topics covered were: a new world of work, publishing online, online collaboration, online identity, innovation in digital education and more. CROATIA Two main target groups that participated at the campaign events and activities were: http://www.getonlineweek.eu/croatia/ • Young people, high schools students • Unemployed people, looking for a job This year Albanian Institute of Science organised two meetings and one workshop for the youth to learn about the opportunities in the IT and ICT sector. Young people were informed that there are more and more ICT jobs available, what skills are required, and how they can improve their skills and get a certificate of the ICT competences. Participants were also supported to look for a job on specialised websites and create a good CV. The organisations that participated in Get Online Week 2015 in Croatia are members of the National Coalition Digital Agenda for Creative Croatia, a part of the European Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs Initiative – CTC Rijeka as Leading partner, Telecentar as the coordinator of GOW in Croatia, Society for Social Ecology, Forum 50+ and Centre M.A.R.E. During the campaign an ongoing survey was initiated and a round table was organised in collaboration with the City of Zagreb about the further development of Digital agenda for Creative Croatia as a part of Zagreb’s candidature for the European Capital of Culture 2020. In total, 37 workshops and trainings were organised to increase people’s digital skills, knowledge and employability. Public awareness regarding employability potentials in the digital technology sector and the importance of digital skills was raised through campaign activities with a total media reach of over 950,000 people. Youngsters were motivated through various activities to take up a career or get skilled in ICT. 10 11
