mindful of your reputation . My own experience has taught me the value of having a team because it can be difficult trying to be and artist and manager and social media expert all at once and all on your own . You need help to successfully manage all things regarding your career .
EL : Why is it important to stay true to yourself through it all , especially in the entertainment industry ? JN : It ' s very important to stay true to who you are in the entertainment industry because people will try to tell you how you should be in order to make it or sway your opinion of yourself and a lot of times people fall victim to it and get lost in that . You have to remember what you bring to the table and do what feels right for you . The right people will flock to that .

EL : Have you ever experienced the lack of support from friends and family ? If so , tell us how you ' re able to keep moving forward . If not , explain how their support encourages you . JN : I have never felt a lack of support from any loved ones and I am truly grateful for that . It ' s the love that keeps you strong and grounded and hungry for it all .
EL : As a music artist , model and actress , you wear a lot of hats . Tell us how you are able to maintain balance day to day . JN : There are definitely many hats ! I have to focus on developing and growing as an artist , I have to take care of my health and body to continue to land acting gigs , I have to study all of the crafts and enhance my knowledge as much as possible , I have to maintain my social medias , websites , respond to emails , keep everything in my calendar updated to ensure that I never miss a beat .
EL : In these industries , there are many other people fighting to break through . How are you able to set yourself apart ? JN : I set myself apart just by being myself . Not trying to be like any artist , model , actress , just being me . People love honesty in a person . They gravitate to genuine hearted people and as long as I do that , I believe I will always be set apart !
EL : You have been afforded many great opportunities , one of the most recent being your involvement in Kelly Rowland ' s hit BET series Chasing Destiny . How have things changed since then ? JN : Things haven ' t changed too much , I have been afforded many great opportunities . Some of my favorite opportunities other than auditions and performances , are speaking to young girls . I love being able to explore their passions , answer their questions and share my story with them . It ' s the most beautiful feeling to me and I am grateful for that opportunity to give something back .
EL : What piece of advice do you have for others aspiring to build their own empire ? JN : To plan ! It takes great planning and even greater action . Figure out what makes you happy , create a plan to execute it successfully and go for it ! | EL
