THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN
Support : primative weapons & ho99o9 CONCORDE 2 , BRIGHTON 26th january 2017
Tonight , Brighton was graced with one of the greatest bands throughout the metal community . The Concorde 2 was packed out to watch ‘ The Dillinger Escape Plan ’ for the final time ! With particularly odd supports , the overall night was certainly one to go down in history !
Up first were Brooklyn ’ s post hardcore outfit ‘ PRIMATIVE WEAPONS ’. Being the first of two support bands , this band had a lot to live up to in order to get the crowd engaged and warmed up . Vocalist ‘ DAVID CASTILLO ’ knew exactly what he wanted from the crowd , as he fist-pumped up and down the stage . As their set progressed , the aggressive , raw throated vocals penetrated through the venue , accompanied by cleanly sung choruses which hit home as more heads started banging , and fans got more into the music .
Next up , ‘ Ho99o9 ’ pronounced ( HORROR ) came to the stage . This group , consisting of two rappers producing a weird mix of rap / grime combined with 80 ’ s punk vibes , commanding the crowd beyond all expectations , all whilst incorporating a live drummer into their noise . Lunging about the stage , causing chaos with high energy in what I can only describe as alien like , ‘ Ho99o9 ’ brought their weirdness to Brighton ! During parts of their performance ‘ EADDY ’ would disappear shouting ‘ this is how you mosh ’ and orchestrating a circle pit , getting up close and personal with the crowd ! Following on from this , ‘ THE OGM ’ asked for all the lights off , to then illuminate himself with just a spotlight from a head torch causing a dark presence around him . Finishing off , with one of their better known hits ‘ BONE COLLECTOR ’; this set the crowd into a final wave of nutty movements , leaving the venue bewildered and amazed ! It ’ s a dizzying spectacle ; so ridiculous … it was hard not to be carried away by it .
