A few years ago Comeback Kid played this room on the hardcore heavy line up on the Never Say Die tour and all night there were problems with security being too heavy handed and filming people who were pitting or crowd surfing . Both those things come with the territory of the scene and gigs like this . So have the security team here learnt to be a bit more reserved ? The complete opposite in fact happens tonight they are even MORE heavy handed with the kids who are just having fun . NO ONE is getting hurt and the most likely way for someone to get hurt here tonight is by the security who take things too far . It ’ s not all of them , just a select one or two who force the band to stop playing during ‘ Broadcasting ’ and call out the people who are meant to be protecting us . This situation makes for a devastating closer of fan favourite and hardcore anthem ‘ Wake The Dead ’.
Disappointingly the room clears out a bit just as Deez Nutz enter the fray to blast through a set of their unique rap hardcore crossover music . The band are all smiles and clearly relishing the challenge of playing after all these great and different bands but unfortunately there isn ’ t much that stands out during the set apart from the fact that the vibe at a DN show is always positive and about fun . They air a couple new songs from their upcoming record Binge & Purgatory which hits the shelves April 7th . Sing-a-longs and call & response vocal parts raise the atmosphere in the room but bodies are still slowly heading for the exit after a long night .
