The Bride Says...
“Remember that the wedding is about you and your
groom. As much as you want to please your family and
friends in the planning process, know they will enjoy
celebrating your love with you that day, no matter what
you end up deciding. Choose and do what will make you
both happy!
HOW THEY MET
Nima and Zeitoon’s love story began when they were 12 years old and in junior
high. Nima was a shy guy who told his friends that Zeitoon was his dream girl,
but couldn’t muster up the courage to ask her out. When high school started,
Nima and Zeitoon ended up going to different schools, but that didn’t stop him
from making an effort to see her. He expressed his feelings, but she wasn’t
ready for a relationship so they decided to wait. One day in March of 2010
when they were both in university, Nima invited Zeitoon to a barbecue. They
went on to date for four years until he proposed. On their sixth anniversary as a
couple, Nima and Zeitoon celebrated their love by getting married.
THE CEREMONY
To honour both their Canadian and Persian roots, Nima and Zeitoon held a civil
ceremony as well as a traditional Persian ceremony. At the civil ceremony, the
groom got emotional upon seeing his bride for the first time walking down
the aisle to “Canon In D” by Pachelbel. At the Persian ceremony, Zeitoon and
Nima took part in the exchanging of honey at a Sofreh Aghd designed by the
bride, followed by a showering of gifts from immediate family. The groom
surprised his bride with a Porsche and the bride surprised her groom with a
Breitling watch.
