“My course was absolutely fundamental to the rest of my working life.
In many ways it was a vocational course – the third year had a sandwich
element where you had to go and work for a company or organisation,
so I spent a year working in the Finance department of the Western Isles
Council. It was on the basis of my experience that I got my first full-time
job and ever since then I’ve had jobs which have had administrative or
financial threads running through them. Each of these threads comes
back to the years I spent at Napier; to the courses and subjects I’ve used
ever since.
