WHO DOESN’T LOVE pastry-wrapped
apples, eggnog and melt-in-your-mouth
shortbread? As a nutritionist, I say it’s okay to
give yourself permission to indulge in your
favourite treats. After all, deprivation can
tailspin into a late-night binge of pumpkin pie.
But the countless goodies that go along with
the flurry of social engagements over the
holidays can sabotage your best-laid plans
for eating right.
My secret to enjoying favourite holiday
nibbles is to act like a picky eater and go for
my absolute, must-have treats. I also fill half
my plate with fruits and vegetables at most
meals. Not only are fruits and vegetables
natural “cleansers” thanks to fibre, they are
also packed with antioxidants to boost your
immune system.
