December 4, 2015 C HANGING OF THE GUARD AT UPCOMING MEETINGS CITY HALL Friends and family gathered at City Hall on Tuesday night to pay tribute to outgoing Mayor Jerry McCloskey as he passed the gavel to newly appointed Mayor Laurie Davies. Annually, the City Council appoints a Mayor and a Mayor Pro Tem from its own membership to serve a one-year term. In November, the Council appointed Mayor Pro Tem Davies to serve as Mayor and Council Member Jerry Slusiewicz to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, effective December 1. Council Member McCloskey expressed his appreciation to colleagues and staff for their support during the year. “It has always been an honor to be on the City Council and it has been a special honor to have been the Mayor,” said McCloskey. Mayor Davies and her colleagues thanked McCloskey for his leadership throughout the year. “Jerry McCloskey is to be commended on an outstanding job well done during his term as Mayor,” said Davies. “He did an excellent job representing our great City at both the local and regional level,” she said. One of Mayor Davies goals for the coming year is to increase the City’s public communication efforts through a series of Meet The Mayor events. Stay tuned for details. Dec. 8 Planning Commission Mtg.
