eighth-mile Pro Modified territory . Barry Mitchell ’ s supercharged 1969 Chevrolet Camaro from Hamptonville , North Carolina , began the 2017 Outlaw Drag Radial season with a 3.748 in Bradenton ( FL ) but Kyle Huettel took the supercharged “ Bad9er ” 2008 Corvette of Jason Michalak to a stunning 3.739 at Denton ( TX ) only two weeks before the SGMP showdown .
At Valdosta , three long days of qualifying eventually found Mitchell regaining the record by a mere thousandth of a second with a 3.738 but it was crowd favorite “ Stevie “ Fast ” Jackson , at the helm of the new “ Shadow 2.0 ” supercharged 2015 Camaro of Jeff Sitton and Phil Shuler , who got the last laugh in qualifying with yet another record by only a thousandth of a second at 3.737 .
It now takes a run under 3.8 seconds to join the DI Drag Radial Top 8 but it should be remembered the DI lists include only drivers rather than cars . As an example , Jackson ’ s 3.737 erases his previous record-holding listing of 3.751 from April , 2016 , in his nitrous oxide-injected 959 cubic inch Reher / Morrison-powered 1969 Camaro .
Although none of the three aforementioned blown alcohol cars appeared in the final round , Mark “ Woody ” Woodruff ’ s twin-turbocharged 2010 Corvette scored a runner-up while jumping to the top of the Drag Radial DI Top 8 Speed list with back-to-back career best speeds of 212.36 and 212.69 mph , ( a full five mph faster than his previous 207.53 mph high ), to become the fastest Drag Radial driver in the world .

Drag Radial entry . The Californian debuted his new Xtreme Race Cars rig at Orlando ( FL ) and got in the ODR MPH Top 8 with a 206.10 mph clocking . Only thirty-six hours later , Barclay had already been bumped from the Top 8 and , at the end of Donald Long ’ s Light Out spectacle , Barclay was tenth on the list .
Al Naemi Posts Incredible 3.64-Second Pro Nitrous Pass !
The 2017 Arabian Drag Racing Series has already produced over two dozen Pro Modified passes under 3.7 seconds and the entries , ( which compete in the pseudo-NHRA rules program ), show no signs of slowing down with two races remaining in the schedule .
American star Lizzy Musi , whose victory in the third ADRS event is one of the 2017 season ’ s most important accomplishments and will probably rank among the greatest in the sport ’ s history , already clocked a 3.663-second run in Frank Brandao ’ s nitrous-injected 969-inch Dodge Dart . However , it was Qatari Mahana al Naemi , a past ADRL winner stateside , wheeled the SpeedTech Nitrous Oxide Systems ’ 69 Camaro to an astonishing 3.643 at 204.82 mph .
During the same series , Lebanon ’ s Mustafa Atat improved on his own Outlaw 10.5 Eliminator World Record by hitting a 3.853 at Doha , Qatar , in the twin-turbocharged , 559-inch V6-powered 2015 Corvette of Team Al-Anabi Racing .
