The back-up girls , drivers , and race cars of the Southeast Gassers
Association lined up in the staging lanes to pose for an expansive group photo before the collection of over two dozen period-correct gassers took to the eighth mile at the renovated Darlington Dragway . Founded by former Pro Modified great Quain Stott , the series seeks to bring back everything that made 1960s-era gassers so exciting ; wheels-up launches , open-face helmets , gear-banging four-speed transmissions , and of course , back-up girls . The series plans to take their throwback show to several southeast drag strips this season .
