Preserving the System means keeping highway pavements, bridges, bikeways, signals and related items in a good condition. Ex- Table of Project Costs amples are repaving a road to maintain ride quality, replacing deterio- 2013 - 2018 rated culverts, and repairing bridges. Preservation projects are normally Highway Improvement Program given first priority preference. Many of these projects are developed from road inventories and inspections (e.g. culverts, guardrail, bridges, Preservation Projects thermoplastic markings.) The Division of Transportation uses a computerized Pavement Management System (Argus) to target sections of roadway for preservation projects. Each fall, one-quarter of the system is tested on a fouryear rotation—the test results are used by the software to develop an optimum set of recommended projects for the next five years. Lake County has made a significant investment in its pavements; the estimated cost to build the existing county roadway network today exceeds $1.6 billion. Preservation projects help to protect this investment, and provide smooth pavements and bridges without load limits to highway users. no of projects 7 1 9 2 19 1 2 6 45 12 12 7 6 60 1 6 196 Worktype 3R Bikepath Bridges Culverts Drainage Engineering Support Enhancements Guardrail Maintenance Patch Patrol 1 Plan Reconstruction Resurface Roadway Signals Total Cost $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ 3,357,300 1,006,300 1,270,300 1,161,000 5,777,900 31,000 630,000 300,000 9,367,600 4,440,300 18,106,600 399,300 17,405,100 55,805,100 5,784,400 600,000 $ 125,442,200 Figures shown cover only County Bridge, Motor Fuel, Matching, Sales Tax and Bond funds.
