He was way ahead of the curve with the whole retooled techno jungle thing so now he’s back to show the whippersnappers how it’s done. Although don’t expect anything obvious. ‘Iridis’ is all scraping metallic clanks over a chopping electro beat, one of those tunes that slams harder than a sledgehammer, before the euphoric break and junglist freakout at the end. The rest of the EP, from ghostly grime to crackly house, is equally good. Too much house now is funkless, beige, boring. This, on the other hand, is stankier than Bootsy’s jockstrap. Squelchy, grooving synth bass, cheeky samples, and a brillia
