DivKid's Month Of Modular Issue #8 May 2016 | Page 3

Ian Shepherd on productionadvice.co.uk has a new post up regarding this exact topic. It's not one to skip past for anyone releasing their own music as you should care about this. I know lots of people who just think "I make sure it sounds great and then it's sent off" (to a label / publisher / uploaded to web services etc) but you could be making yourself sound quieter and worse than others. So well worth a read. There's also a new podcast "The Mastering Show" featuring Ian which I've been enjoying as well. Click HERE for the article on the loudness war and click HERE for the podcast.

As usual the "things from around the web" section is my way of sharing things that catche my attention so feel free to share anything you're watching or into at the links to my profiles at the end of the magazine.

As I've stated before I never set out to cover "music" particularly in the magazine but as I get talking to people I feel it's something that is well deserving of sharing with an what's potentially a new audience for the release. Now, I'm not professing to be Surachai's "bestie" by any means but we've spoken briefly around his new release and I've followed TRASH AUDIO (his site/blog) for some time now and he's detailed the whole process of the album in this post - CLICK HERE - going through the process for his new album. Instinct and Memory was released on April 29th on vinyl and download through BL_K Noise. To start with here's a video that was put together by artists Emilie Elizabeth and Briana Gonzales who are responsible for the artwork and photography. Click HERE or hit play on the video.

“A great amount of effort was put into the physical release of the vinyl and it has always been the intended format for Instinct and Memory to be released and experienced on. It includes

embroidered patch and logo pin, you can hold Emilie’s incredible artwork on heavy tip-on gatefold jackets and listen to Instinct and Memory as it tries to turn your sound system into dust. It definitely will test the limits of your sound system.”
