DivKid's Month Of Modular Issue #12 September 2016 | Page 5

There was no missing the launch of the collaboration between Music Thing

Modular and Mutable Instruments "Mutable Music Things" with their new module "Ears". Unless you were living under a rock with no internet and not a single

eurorack user in sight, then you JUST might have missed it. Ears is an improved take on the Music Thing Modular Mikrophonie module. It offers a high impedance input suitable for contact

mics and guitars (lots of gain

too so good for most things),

envelope follower and gate

output. So you get a gate and

a variable CV tracking your

input. Like the Mikrophonie

Ears has a built in contact

mic under the panel with a

scratch-able surface perfect

for scraping and playing. Ears

is sold assembled exclusively

through Thonk.co.uk and I've made a video for it! Check out the video HERE or hit play.

Another "where have you been" moment if you've managed to avoid this one ... Qu-Bit have released Chord! A four part oscillator that creates musically related four voice chords. With inversions, 7ths and harmony that can track properly / musically or be left as a basic "stacked" more like chord memory on Juno. Qu-Bit have also recently have a re-design with panels and layout with bigger modules with lots of space making them highly playable. You might remember from one or two NAMM shows ago this was available with a different design and before that a much slimmer module that I think (don't quote me on that) was more CV than audio based. The new Chord looks like the Wave sampler module and I'm excited to see what's to come, especially with the performance/output style mixer they were working on.
