Residents of Strathcona County take pride in their gardens and it shows .
The Strathcona in Bloom Society is a volunteer organization that works to promote the national Communities in Bloom program in Strathcona County with the assistance of Strathcona County .
Communities in Bloom is a non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride , environmental responsibility and beautification of green spaces in urban settings through community involvement . It provides information , education and awards bloom ratings for achievement in floral displays , landscapes , turf , urban forestry , community involvement , heritage conservation environmental awareness and tidiness .
Strathcona County won the Class of Champions category of the 2012 National Edition of Communities in Bloom , received a 5 Bloom rating and a special mention for the Beaver Hills Initiative .
Support from all sectors in the County is evident in all areas of the CIB program criteria – sponsorship of park initiatives , wide-spread volunteer efforts , and volunteers , community groups and sponsors who work in providing floral displays . The community is beyond involved ; it is fully engaged ! This program is continuing to grow within the community .
