Centre in the Park – A Cultural Hub
With theatre, dance performances, a library and various art shows, Strathcona County
is a hub for cultural activities. Located in the new Community Centre, Strathcona’s own
gallery@501 features a variety of curated art exhibitions throughout the year, including
creative visual arts programs for all ages. Festival Place is a spectacular 500-seat
Elizabethan-style theatre with the best entertainment year round. Strathcona County is
home to hundreds of cultural groups, including numerous organizations for visual and
performing arts. The Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre hosts a variety of pottery, visual
arts programs and art shows.
The Strathcona County Library is also located in its new home in the
Community Centre. This beautiful new library offers thousands of books,
CDs and DVDs, wireless internet access, program rooms, quiet reading
spaces, a coffee kiosk and fireside lounge. The new low-floor
Bookmobile is on the read year-round, bringing library services to
rural residents of Strathcona County.
