HOW ARE GROUP AND
INDIVIDUAL IDENTITIES
REPRESENTED THROUGH
CLOTHING AT UBC?
I
n our research, we conducted interviews with UBC students
on the Vancouver campus to explore questions regarding how
they expressed their group and individual identities through their
clothing choices. We paid attention to the self-reflexive ways that
people mediated their clothing choices as UBC students. During our
interviews, we used open-ended questions to give our participants
room to think about clothing and identity; our aim was to allow them
to move in the directions that interested them.
