CUYUNA
BIKE TRAILS
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT CUYUNA’S BIKE TRAILS
* The trails became a reality due to work
by local cyclists, The Minnesota Off Road
Cyclists, and the International Mountain
Bicycling Association.
* A signature trait of the trails at Cuyuna is
that your bike tires will get red when you
ride out there. This is due to the all the
taconite out there.

the pits to dive. Afterwards, there’s a barbeque
where people can gather and reflect on their
experiences. Cost is $20 per dive or $15 per dive
for those who take advantage of the punch-card
program. Rental gear is available for those who
don’t have their own.
It’s important to point out that guides will only
take certified divers on trips to check out the
mine pits. If you’re not certified yet, and want to
get your certification, it’s possible to do it over
the course of a long weekend at the Minnesota
School of Diving. The cost is around $450. More
information is available on the School’s website:
www.mndiving.com.
In addition to scuba diving and mountain
biking, Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area is
also a great place for canoeing, kayaking, paddle
boarding, camping, hiking and trout fishing.
Fish are stocked every year at varying rates in
selected mine lakes depending on access and
size of the body of water. Up to date information
can be found at area bait shops, especially those
around Crosby, Deerwood, and Ironton.
